CONFIRMATION

Requirements

  • Baptized Catholic, 6th Grade—12th Grade
  • Registered Member of the Parish
  • Participation of the Parents or Guardian in home faith formation
  • Weekly Mass attendance (8:30 am)
  • Weekly class attendance (Sunday, 9:30—10:30am)
  • Required service projects and Retreat
  • Participants must be minimally in the 6th Grade
    2 Parents’/Guardian Meetings (to be announced)

Schedule

Classes begin in early October and run each week through April. The date for Confirmation (early Spring) is scheduled by the Archbishop’s Office

CONFIRMATION SPONSORS

Cannon 872 and Canon 974 of the Code of Canon Law list these requirements for valid and lawful sponsorship in Baptism and Confirmation.

  1. Must be at least 16 years of age.
  2. Must have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Communion and Confirmation.
  3. Must be a practicing Catholic who attends Mass, receives the sacraments regularly, and knows the fundamental truths and the faith of the Catholic Church.
  4. Must be a member of the Catholic Church in good standing to carry out this sponsorship. (If you are unable to receive the Sacraments, you are also unable to serve as a sponsor. Please ask if you are unsure.)
  5. Cannot be the parent of the person seeking Confirmation.
  6. Above all the sponsor should be a friend who can work with Confirmand or Candidate. The sponsor should be a person who is prayerful, open, loving, and is comfortable in sharing their love of Jesus Christ and teaching the practices of the Catholic faith.
